2012 is a special year in Champagne, France.
2012 has become a powerhouse vintage with some famous houses you may recognize – Dom Perignon, Veuve Clicquot Grande Dame, Cristal, Bollinger’s Grande Anne, and other top champagne producers deciding to make a top cuvée from this single vintage’s fruit. Roger Barnier produces some of the most compelling and expressive champagnes available. This is a VERY tiny house with VERY tiny quantities! For example no more than 1200 bottles were produced of this reserve bottle … That’s only 100 CASES for the entire world!
Roger Barnier’s cuvées exhibit pronounced refinement in every single sip, in a style that Roger himself developed thinking primarily of wines that should be paired with a meal for an epic gastronomic experience like this “Cuvée Blanche”. Designing champagne that goes hand in hand with food was the driving force behind the creation of the Maison’s trademark texture and elegance. How very FRENCH 🙂 Seriously, whenever I read that a winemakers WHY in their creation will ultimately be to pair with food and bring about a pleasurable experience to all – I’m sold. I would absolutely love to be sipping this on the French Riviera with some fresh caught white fish staring at the Mediterranean, however tonight in my backyard it was…
a flute of this exceptional champagne with some sliced fresh papaya and mango! A little goat cheese and crackers as well. It was pure bliss!
Cheers and happy weekend everyone!
